Uniting as a family around a bounteous table is a celebrated
Indonesian traditon. On such occasions, especially if there are
guests present, far more is put on the table than the company
can possibly eat. This is not intended as a display of wealth on
the part of the host, but rather as a hospitable gesture.
When dining in tradition Indonesian fashion all the dishes
are placed on the table together & guest are asked to help
themselves first.
You may sample dishes one at the time if you like & than take
severalmore helpings - this shows you are enjoying the food -
or you can mix everything together. |
